With the PGA season all wrapped up, and only the Ryder Cup left on this year’s calendar (at least in terms of tournaments worth paying attention to)…let’s take a quick look back on the highlights of this past season.

Major season kicked off with Rory McIlroy finally completing his career grand slam by winning the Masters, defeating Justin Rose in a sudden death playoff and placing Rory in elite company to add to his long list of accomplishments in the sport.

Scottie Scheffler continues to hog the spotlight by adding 2 more majors to his growing list of victories, winning the PGA Championship in May as well as the Open Championship at Royal Portrush by 4 strokes – leaving only the U.S. Open left for him to complete his grand slam.
J.J. Spaun won his first major at Oakmont in this year’s U.S. Open, and did so by being the only player to finish under par in very difficult conditions, topping it off with a very long putt to seal the deal that caused the crowd to erupt on site and in their living rooms.

Outside of the majors this year, we learned that Scottie is in a league of his own, and any time he tees off there is more than a good chance of him coming out on top. With the whole LIV drama still looming over the sport, we await to see how next year unfolds, but one thing for sure is it’s going to take a lot to dethrone Mr. Scheffler.
The season finale saw Tommy Fleetwood FINALLY grab his first victory on tour, after many runner up finishes and last minute blown leads, but he sure picked a good one to win – with a $10 million prize to go with it. His resilience and outlook on his journey to get there should be studied by other athletes as he never lost sight of his goal and handled all the moments leading up to his first win with grace.

Not a lot of Tiger Woods this year as more injuries plagued his season – but I think I speak for everyone when I say he hopefully comes back next week and surprises us all. In the meantime, we have the Ryder Cup coming up next month before the long break to next season, but don’t worry…at least football is back!
