I think next year I’m just going to write a post about whatever golf tournament is going on that weekend before it actually happens. Because here is the most likely outcome…Scottie Scheffler walks away with the victory.

With the 2nd playoff event in the books and the field of 30 now set for the Tour Championship this coming weekend, it was once again Mr. Scheffler that proved too tough to beat at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland. It was his 5th win of the 2025 season, and even though he is miles away from GOAT status, he continues to draw comparisons to the one and only Tiger Woods with his dominance and lack of weaknesses – unless you call the commentators mentioning his unusual footwork every 2 minutes a weakness.
Robert MacIntyre was in the drivers seat heading into the final round on Sunday with a 4 stroke lead, and looked destined to hold the trophy all weekend up to that point. But he would bogey the first 2 holes and 3 of the first 5, and it took Scottie only 5 to take over the top spot.

Although the tournament wasn’t the most exciting in terms of who would walk away victorious – once Scottie had the lead that is. It was a fight for all to make the top 30 and qualify for next week’s prize. While the FedEx playoffs continue to be tweaked often as they try to find the best way to cap off the season, it looks like strides in the right direction were made.

Instead of rewarding strokes to players on how they played throughout the year, it is now more of a traditional playoffs like the other major sports. Sure you can get hot or cold at the wrong moment, but that’s what makes a playoff so exciting. The top 30 make the final round, and then may the best golfer win. It should be an exciting showdown in Atlanta in a few days of the 30 golfers playing the best at this time. All we ask is that if Scottie does win again – he at least keeps it interesting!
