Destination Golf- Casa De Campo

Destination Golf – Casa de Campo: Where Your Swing Meets Paradise

Let me be clear: this was hands down the BEST golf trip I’ve ever been on—and I’ve played courses that claim to be “bucket list” but barely qualify as “ball bucket.” Casa de Campo is the real deal. This is not just a golf resort—it’s a golfer’s playground, a luxury haven where your backswing comes with a butler.

The property features five(!) golf courses, including night golf—yes, night golf, because who needs sunlight when you’ve got LED-lit fairways and a stubborn slice?

Living the Villa Vida

We opted for one of the massive villas, and let’s just say… it ruined all future vacations for me. Imagine this: a private pool, a hot tub, two golf carts (because walking is for airports), a 24-hour chef and maid, and all-inclusive food and drinks at on-property restaurants. You can also choose from cozy condos or traditional hotel rooms, but I highly recommend going all-in on the villa experience. The all-inclusive package? 100% worth it—unless you hate convenience, delicious food, and adult beverages delivered with a smile.

The Courses: Choose Your Own Adventure

Teeth of the Dog is Casa de Campo’s crown jewel—legendary and rightfully famous. Unfortunately, it was being completely redone during my stay (a tragedy Shakespeare himself couldn’t have written better). But fear not: the other courses more than held their own.

La Romana Country Club (aka: The Mood Stabilizer)

While not technically part of Casa de Campo, La Romana is on property and a must-play. It’s beautifully maintained, challenging enough to make you question your life choices, but too scenic to actually get mad. Caribbean Sea views will keep your blood pressure in check, even if your scorecard won’t.

Dye Fore: Drama at Every Elevation

Designed by the iconic Pete Dye, this course is the Caribbean’s best-kept secret—so let’s ruin that secret right now. It offers three distinct 9-hole tracks, each with its own flair. One of them, Chavón, features a 300-foot cliff that delivers both breathtaking views and immediate fear of your ball free-falling into the abyss. Golf Digest ranks this as the #3 course in the Dominican Republic, and after playing it, you’ll understand why—and possibly need therapy.

The Links: Dye’s Playable Masterpiece

A bit more forgiving than its siblings, The Links is a graceful blend of beauty and challenge. Think wide fairways, sneaky greens, and Dye’s signature bunkers looking like they were sculpted with both sand and sarcasm. Stretching over 7,000 yards with a slope of 126, it’s ideal for every level of golfer—from weekend warriors to delusional optimists.

Bottom Line:
If you love golf, luxury, and just the right amount of ego bruising, Casa de Campo is your place. Whether you’re chasing birdies, mojitos, or both, this resort delivers an unforgettable experience—and a golf tan that might last until your next trip back.
