We get it Scottie, you’re really good at golf. The 2nd major of the year is all wrapped up, with World #1 Scottie Scheffler winning his third career major championship at Quail Hollow in Charolette, North Carolina.
The main storylines of the tourney were players unable to get relief from “mud balls”, after rain soaked the area, and the “Green Mile” – which consisted of the last 3 holes on the course that presented numerous challenges and led to scoring struggles across the board.

The first 2 days belonged to Jhonattan Vegas, the 40 year old Venezuelan who has 4 career PGA tour wins, with his best major finish being T-22. But that didn’t stop Jhonattan from playing amazing, and keeping the nerves at bay as he led through the first half of the tournament. And while he did not win, he finished -5 and in a tie for 5th place – so a big hats off to Vegas on a great weekend.
Going into the final Sunday, we saw Scottie go from 3 strokes back, to 3 strokes ahead. And while it looked like it was in the bag, as he headed to the back 9 he found himself tied with 2 time major champion Jon Rahm.

Rahm, who currently plays on the LIV tour, was the steady world #1 until his move to the Saudi backed circuit, and has since seen a dip in his play, but he looked like his old form through the majority of the weekend. The “Green Mile” proved to be too tough of a task for Rahm who imploded at the end, and losing 5 strokes after his brief tie with Scottie, to finish T-8 with a total score of -4.

While this tournament didn’t have a lot of major story grabbing headlines, and was arguably not the best course to watch on television, I think we can all agree – a weekend with a major is better than a weekend without one.
