There is one thing that gives every golfer a reason to wake up in the morning – having a golf trip on the books. The key is to do your research…and lucky for you we are here to do that research for you and then testing it out ourselves!
Depending on where you live there are plenty of great options. And if you find yourself wanting to travel on the outskirts of the U.S. then look no further than the Dominican Republic. This is a fantastic golf getaway that brings all sorts of options.

There are plenty of options on the island, but we recommend staying at one of the all inclusive resorts. This makes everything so easy, you don’t have to carry your wallet around (except having some cash to tip the caddy at some of the nicer courses), just use your wristband, wonder around the resort, and jump on the shuttle when you ready for your tee time. Our resort had numerous pools, a live theater for shows at night, a casino, night club, you name it! This is the way to go, as opposed to booking at a normal hotel, spending all sorts of time on where to eat, what to do – the all inclusive resort takes care of everything for you, and there are always good deals around.

We stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach in Puntacana on the east coast and loved it. The course they offer is great, albeit a little backed up due to so many people wanting to enjoy a nice round of golf on their vacation. It was true resort style golf, lots of trees and flowers, beautiful ponds, and we even saw a wild horse roaming around! That was a first.

We also ventured off to play a course at a different resort, which was part of the package deal. And man was this course amazing! La Cana Golf Club, and it had some gorgeous holes along the ocean shoreline, it was in FANTASTIC shape, and we were even lucky enough to get paired with a very fun and informative caddy.

If you are thinking of a Caribbean golf trip soon, then definitely keep in mind the Dominican Republic. Book your trip at an all inclusive resort, and the only problem you will have is your feet hurting from all the walking to your many activities! And enjoy the peacocks!
