The 3rd major of the year is in the books! Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on capturing his 2nd U.S. Open title yesterday, at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. The weekend was filled with some thrilling moments, and a neck to neck finish between Bryson and Rory McIlroy who came close to winning his first major since 2011 but fell short after some costly missed putts down the stretch.

It was a tough 4 days for the best in the world, with the fairways at Pinehurst covered in wiregrass, and the greens, although seemingly large, described by some as an upside down spoon causing ball after ball to roll off time and time again.
While watching I could only imagine how many balls I would have lost playing this course. No doubt I would be searching in that wiregrass until the sun set – and probably setting a new record for most 7 putts in a round!

But something about a low scoring tournament really brings out some magic. With it being such a struggle to stay on the green, to constantly have to make the tough club choice, it really highlights how good these guys actually are. While some tournaments end with the winner carding a -24, Bryson took home the trophy with a -6. A constant grind for 4 days on a tough course where even the #1 golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, barely made the cut and struggled throughout the weekend.

Rory and Bryson battled it out over the Sunday round, Bryson up by 3 strokes, Rory up by 2, back and forth they went, until a costly missed putt by Rory and an incredible sand shot by Bryson settled it all. That sand shot being from 50 feet away, and rolled up beautifully to set up his clinching putt from within 4 feet. An exciting tournament that also lead to 1 sad fact when it was over…we only have 1 major left this year. Who will win the 152nd Open at Royal Troon next month? The wait begins.
