Destination Golf – South Florida

Welcome back golfers! And welcome to our segment to discuss golfing locations! The point of these posts will be to shine light on some great areas that not only offer public and affordable golf, but entertainment away from the courses as well.

Since we are located in South Florida we are starting here – and if you haven’t been to Florida before, then let it be known this is one of the best golfing destinations in the United States. It’s worth noting that the reason this area is so great is mostly due to the private courses so they are not possible to play without being a member or having a member take you on the course with them. But there are still plenty of great options with a great nightlife all along the east coast.

The Palm Beach area is a fantastic option. There are numerous courses that are in great shape through most of the year from Port St. Lucie (even though this is just outside of Palm Beach county) all the way down to the Boca Raton. We would highly recommend North Palm Beach Country Club – always in fantastic shape, has a few holes along the waterway, and perfect south Florida golf scenery.

Nearby is also Abacoa Golf Course which is the other main attraction in the Jupiter area in terms of top public courses. Although it’s tough to play in the high heat and humidity of the sunshine state, if you can stand the high temperatures and don’t want to pay top dollar, then these are some must play spots in the summer. With all sorts of amazing restaurants and some great nightlife in nearby downtown West Palm Beach and the Delray Beach area, these are great options for a getaway.

As you venture further south you will find too many courses to count on one hand. Although the majority of them are a bit sub par compared to the previously mentioned courses, there are still more than enough great options – courses that we personally play all the time! If you go on Golf Now you will see the list (too much of which to write them all out here). And note that if you scurry a bit further outside of Palm Beach County you will find even more gems such as Jacaranda in Plantation Florida, and the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie (a golf resort location with 4 courses and an entrance that makes you feel like you’re at the Disney location of golf).

So grab your sunblock, load the cooler with ice and water, and go check out South Florida for a great, albeit sauna-like golf trip!
